Dear Sir,

THE POWER MINISTRY, CORRUPTION AND TAKING UNDUE ADVANTAGE OF NIGERIANS

I recall that you have recently defended the hike in electricity tariff which I as a citizen do not have a problem with should there be proper accountability, justification and availability of power. However, Nigerians have been unfairly treated when it about sacrifices. Nigerians have not enjoyed benefits of being citizens. The system has and still short change the people and every citizen that is doing things right bear the brunt of the anomaly.

It is a known fact that power distribution and bill payment have not been JUST, the citizens who do not have prepaid meter carries very heavy and unacceptable burden of the electricity revenue generation LEVY as they do not know their consumption and Estimated bill (LEVY) are imposed on them.

There will NEVER be justice if the CORRUPT staff and offices of the electricity company are not checked.

Like the President said, “if we don’t kill corruption, corruption will kill US”. The corruption in the POWER SECTOR is worse than that of those that have looted the treasury.

Some offices of the electricity company BYPASS meters and connect all their heavy equipment DIRECT to power line thereby SHORTCHANGING the government and the people. This same corruption is allegedly applicable to some of their homes, this they have done for friends and families. Some organizations have also keyed into this MONUMENTAL CORRUPTION as some staff of the electricity company have used this dubious means to enrich themselves.

Sir, I will request that you use private investigators to check this CORRUPTION that has been on and still on-going in the electricity sector and let the remittance that goes to the government be right and Nigerians stop being unduly short changed.

 Regards,

Daniel ‘Seun
